Last rites are being held today for M. V. Pauls, 87, who died Sunday evening in Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. The Rev. Paul Jordan is officiating and hymns will be sung by the Muhs Bros. Burial will be in Van Horne Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Marvin Conrad, Arthur Kruckenberg, Hugo Rowold, Arnold Koch, Robert Conner and Harley Fisher. Mrs Arthur Kruckenberg and Mrs Julius Meier are in charge of flowers.

He was born on September 4, 1883 at Lowden. He married Anna Maria Muesing and three children were born to this union. She preceded him in death. On Oct. 17, 1928 he was married to Mrs Sophie Hoffmeier in Rock Island.

Mr Pauls was a retired farmer and also had served as Lowden town marshal.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs Arthur (Veneta) Fisher of Lowden and a son Melvin of Mechanicsville; also 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother Nels of Wichita, Kansas.
