Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. John United Church of Christ in Clarence for Julius Muhs, 79. The Rev Calvin Schumacher officiated. Hymns were sung by the Muhs Brothers and Mrs Robert Hasselbusch was organist. Burial was in St John cemetery. Graveside rites were conducted by Victory Post No. 286, American Legion.
Serving as pallbearers were Elmer Krueger, Donald Pruess, Marvin Pruess, Glenn Pruess, Donald Muhs and William Parr. Mrs Steven Benischek, Teresa Bentrott and Loreen Busch had charge of flowers.
Mr Muhs, a lifetime resident of this area, died Saturday in Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton. He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born near Lowden and married Amanda Pruess in 1919. He farmed west of Lowden for many years. He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Mrs Earl (Myrtle) Busch of Lost Nation and Mrs Mervin (Eleanor) Bentrott, Wheatland; a son, Richard, Lowden; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs Meta Parr, Camanche and a brother Hugo of Lowden.
