9 May 1935 - The Clarence Sun
Wayne Rollo Claney was born at the Claney farm north of Clarence on January 13, 1891, consequently he had attained the age of 44 years, three months and 34 days at the time of his death, which occurred Tuesday morning, May 7, 1935, at the farm home southwest of Clarence.
He was the youngest of the family of five children of Frank and Anna Garrison Claney, and of this family he is survived by the father, Frank Claney, and sister, Marion, both of Pasadena, Calif., and his brother, William, of Imperial, Neb.
His youth was spent on his father's farm and in his attendance at the Clarence public schools. On August 20, 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Jennette Mae Shuck, and a home was established on a farm near Coggon, where they resided for a few years, until twenty-one years ago when they came to the Shuck farm where they have since resided.
He is survived by his wife and four children: Mrs. Ruth LeNore Penningroth of Delhi, Iowa, Warren Shuck Claney of Clarence, Gene Burr Claney of Wheatland, and Marion Mae at home, and also two grandchildren.
On the 24th of June, 1917, he was received into membership in the Methodist church by the Rev. S. S. Smith, and throughout the remainder of his life he was a consistent member and supporter of this church.
Because of the kindnesses of his heart and the integrity of his character he gained a wide circle of friends and because of these same qualities these friendships were abiding. His departure is consequently deeply mourned by his friends and greatly regretted by the entire community.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church this afternoon and was in charge of the pastor, Reverend George H. Goodrick, who was assisted by Reverend W. J. Macaulay, of Monticello, a former pastor in Clarence. Burial took place in the Clarence cemetery.
J. C. Coonrod, Earl Elijah, Ralph Rowser and S. S. Crittenden formed the quartet that sang. Mrs. Coonrod, accompanist.
