Mayberry family

I am stumped by Mayberry family genealogy. My Great Garndfather was Valentine Boyd Mayberry son of John J Mayberry and Margaret Mayberry Mayberry ( no mistake I think they were 1st cousins). John J parents were said to be Thomas and Mary Ann Sankey. I beleieve Margaret was daughter of William and Martha Laughlin Mayberry.
My dilema is I strongly question that Thomas and Mary ann were parents of John J. John J and Margaret had I think 10 children none of them were named Thomas or Mary Ann. They did have a daughter named Martha who as I said before I was named after her mother's mother. In a nutshell I don't sfind any documentation That Thomas was the father of John J and I have found very little evidence that to me suggest this info is correct. The only that does hint at some sort of relation is both Thomas and John J were from Penn and moved to Iowa bef 1860. Can anyone help. no dispect meant , but in thisinstance I am a ddoubting thomas.
