WENDELL WESLEY KING
Wendell Wesley King was born in Hancock on Sept. 18, 1910. He lived with his parents on the farm until his high school graduation. He attended Iowa State University in Ames for nearly four years, when he returned to help on the farm because of his father's sudden death.
He married Maxine Foster, a high school teacher in Hancock, on Sept. 5, 1935. They remained on the farm until 1944 when they moved to Milton w(h)er he served as a bridge and road construction contractor.
In 1964, the family moved to Chandler, AZ, because of his health. He worked on the Pima Indian Reservation four years in Housing Authority for development. He was owner of King Enterprises, an income tax preparation, accounting and auctioneering service.
He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Iowa State, a member of R. O. T. C., a past Mason, and a member of the Farm Bureau. He belonged to the Auctioneer Association and was very active in the Republican Party. He was a member of Grace community Church in Tempe, and active in the X, Y, Z organization at the church. He was also active in Campus Crusade.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine, of Chandler, AZ; one daughter, Donna Fox of Bradenton, FL; three grandchildren, Kimberley Fox, Bill Fox, Jr., and Lee Ann Fox; two sisters, Dorothy Watson of Hancock and Muriel Henry of Fort Dodge; one brother, Wylie King of Hancock and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jon Wesley King.
