Andrew Peter Clemenson was born in Denmark September 15th, 1849. At the age of twenty-three years he came to America and settled down in Atlantic, Iowa. Here he was married to Oline Erickson.
About forty-two years ago the family moved to the vicinity of Conde, S. D. It was real pioneer life there in those days and the Clemenson family did their full share for the neighborhood's welfare both in a temporal and spiritual way, especially in the spiritual.
At an early age Brother Clemenson was converted to God and was baptized as a believer in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of the Danish Baptist Church in Atlantic, Iowa for a while. When the Clemenson family moved to Conde, Brother and Sister Clemenson helped to organize the Spink County Danish Baptist Church. Many of our Danish and Norwegian Baptist preachers remember with joy Clemenson's home.
Later Brother and Sister Clemenson and some of their children were members of the Conde Baptist Church.
About one and a half years ago Clemenson and wife came to Minneapolis to live and they joined our church in Minneapolis. It was a joy to have these faithful members in our midst during that time.
Last summer Brother and Sister Clemenson moved back to Conde where some of their children live. It was there Brother Clemenson spent his last days on earth. However, they remained members of our church in Minneapolis.
After a short illness, Andrew Peter Clemenson moved from time to eternity, March 24th, 1924. His moving day had come and with courage and faith in the Lord whom he dearly loved, he said, "good-bye" and looked to the Promised Land where all God's children shall gather sometime.
The funeral took place March 27th with an unusually large and sympathetic assemblage. At 1:00 P.M. relatives and friends gathered in the home west of Conde, where the writer read a portion of the eleventh chapter of John, and A. K. Tollefson led in prayer, after which a large number of friends gathered for the service in the Baptist Church in Conde. The service was opened with the song "Abide with me", sung by some friends, then the writer read some of God's Word and Brother Tollefson led in prayer, after which the song, "It is well", was sung. The writer then talked on the words found in Proverbs 10:7 - "The memory of the just is blessed."
Brother Tollefson then talked on, "The Home over there" - another song was sung and then the closing prayer.
So many beautiful flowers decorated the casket and the body was buried in the cemetery near town. Many were gathered that day and the funeral procession was long.
I heard many good testimonies that day about Brother Clemenson's good christian life. It was good to hear.
One of Clemenson's sons died some years ago. Those of his family who are still living are: his wife; four daughters - Mrs. Charles Mereness of Verdon; Mrs. Thomas Tollefson of Verdon; Mrs. Charles Landin of Minneapolis, and Miss Maybelle Clemenson of New York City. The sons are Daniel of Verdon; Samuel and Manoah of Conde and Harold who is a student in Minneapolis.
The Lord will show himself faithful to those left behind. Surely will the fathers' and mothers' prayers for the children and grand-children be answered.
A song was also sung with feeling at the grave.

SOURCE: Typed single-page obituary was mailed to Carl and Christine Petersen family in 1924, and found among numerous old handwritten letters from the Clemenson's to the Petersen family over many years.
