Mrs. Violet Reed, 84, Dies This Morning

Mrs. Violet Reed, 84, resident of 410 East Fifth, died this morning at Heritage House where she had been a patient for a month.

Mrs. Reed was born Dec. 5, 1888, in Adair County, the daughter of Wilbur Fisk and Lavilla Scott Rice. She was married to Lewis L. (Roy) Reed April 12, 1911, at the home of her parents in Wiota and he died March 13, 1967. Mrs. Reed was a member of the Wiota Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Carl L. Reed of Atlantic; two daughters, Mrs. Elsie Staska of Lauderhill, Fla., and Mrs. Ruth Stanley of San Bernardino, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons, Frank, Robert and Thomas Reed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Roland Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold A. Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Wiota Cemetery. The family will meet relatives and friends from 7:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
