BUSINESSMAN DIES
Jessie H. Beck, 86, Atlantic retired realtor and car dealer, 509 Pine Street, died at 12:30 Thursday morning at the Dennis nursing home, Where he had been a patient since September 13. He had been in failing health for some time.
Mr. Beck was born near Kolding, Denmark, August 3, 1878, the son of Jess Hansen and Anna Marie Lund Beck and had lived in Cass County since coming to the United States when he was 15. He was married to Marry Burris in Atlantic, January 10, 1906. She died here June 18, 1943 and he was married to Grace Crutchfield, September 27, 1947. Mr. Beck was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and held a life membership in Atlantic BPO Elk Lodge 445 and the Southwest Iowa Realtors. He was in the automobile business here for many years.
surviving are his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Walter Rattenborg of Atlantic, Iowa, Mrs. Charles Compton of Des Moines, and Mrs. Victor Britt of Blair, Nebraska; a son Darrell Beck of Longmont, Colorado; three stepchildren, Mrs. Harvey Smith of Minneapolis, Herbert Welsh of Irving, Texas, and Mrs. Alice Pope of Kansas City, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Roland Funeral Home. The Rev Ronald Christensen officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
