Mrs. J. E. Jordan Of Wiota Dies At Anita Home

Mrs. Viola Jordan, 71, wife of James E. Jordan of Wiota, died at 7:45 Saturday evening at the Potter nursing home in Anita. She had been in failing health for some time and at the nursing home two weeks.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Macomb, Ill., April 21, 1885, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Derry and came with her parents to a farm north of Wiota when she was seven years old. She was married to Mr. Jordan Feb. 17, 1907, at the home of her parents and had lived in the Wiota vicinity since. She was a member of the Wiota Methodist church.

Surviving besides the husband are two sons, James B. Jordan of Anita and Jesse C. Jordan of Atlantic; a daughter, Mrs. William Lamberty of Atlantic; a brother, Roy Derry of Villisca; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A brother, Harvey Derry, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held at the Wiota Methodist church this afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. F. G. Barnes officiating. Interment was in the Wiota cemetery.

FUNERAL NOTICES

For Mrs. Jordan

Funeral services for Mrs. James E. Jordan were held at the Wiota Methodist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. F. G. Barnes officiating. Sharon Coomes and Dean Coomes, accompanied by Mrs. Lamar Gardner, sang “Rock of Ages” and “In the Garden.”

Casket bearers were Ray Cannon, Durwood Spies, Ernest Schultz, Merle Derry, Claude McConnell and Howard Edwards. Interment was in the Wiota cemetery.

NOTE ROM THE CONTRIBUTOR: Viola Ruth Jordan was born April 21, 1885 and died July 28, 1956.
