Funeral Services For Mrs. Brix to Be Held Monday

Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Brix, 410 East Fifth street, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Roland’s funeral home. Mrs. Brix died Thursday afternoon at the Atlantic hospital where she had been a patient since Monday. She was 80 years old.

The Rev. Harold Smith will officiate at the services and interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery.

Mrs. Brix was born in Germany Jan. 12, 1877, the daughter of Adam and Barbara Guttenfelder. She came with her parents to the United States at the age of five and grew to womanhood in Cass county. On Jan. 23, 1901, she was married to Fred Brix in Council Bluffs. She lived on a farm north of here, moving into Atlantic 31 years ago. Mr. Brix died Oct. 11, 1925.

Mrs. Brix attended the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church.

Survivors include two sons, Ralph Brix of Walnut and Eldon Brix, Glendale, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Edna Steffens of Los Angeles, Calif.; Nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, and two brothers, Con Guttenfelder of Atlantic and John Guttenfelder of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by a son Harold, who died in July, 1956, four brothers and a sister.
