April 1987Fredric McDermott Dies In Missouri
Fredric C. McDermott, 71, of Independence, Mo., died Saturday at his home.
Mr. McDermott was a national sales manager for Custom Food Company in Chicago, Ill., for 15 years and retired in 1970.
The son of Frederick and Ona Malone McDermott, he was born in Fairbury, Neb., March 28, 1916, attended Dowling College in Des Moines, received a bachelor’s degree from William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Va. and did graduate work at Columbia University in New York, N. Y.
Mr. McDermott was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Independence, was a volunteer at the Kansas City Zoo and served in the Army during World War II.
Surviving are a brother, Thomas McDermott of Atlantic; two nephews, Rick and Jerry McDermott; two aunts, Mrs. Louis B. Poch and Mrs. Henry Kloppenburg and four nieces, all of Atlantic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, longtime Wiota residents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Edward Kelly officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Roland Funeral Home, with Monsignor Bart Kane officiating.
