Mrs. E. Gertrude Day Is Dead

Was Widely Known as Music Teacher

Mrs. E. Gertrude Day, 60, 461 Park avenue, Council Bluffs music instructor, died Tuesday night at a local hospital from a heart ailment after an illness of more than two months.

Mrs. Day, a resident of this city for thirty-four years, conducted a piano school and was president of the local chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She was choir director at Broadway Christian church and active in the National Daughters of the G. A. R.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Marjorie Day of Council Bluffs; a son, Richard R. Day of Santa Barbara, Calif., three sisters, Miss Anna E. Riggs and Mrs. Jessie Shafenberg of Council Bluffs and Mrs. C. W. Bradley of Redlands, Calif., and one brother, George L. Riggs of Manilla, Ia.

The body is at the Woodring funeral home pending arrangements. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery.

She was born in Wisconsin and was living in Atlantic, Iowa in 1900; Married to Ira Morgan Day, Atlantic, Iowa in 1901; living in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa in 1910; Died Council Bluffs, Iowa, October 5, 1937.
