GEORGE E. SIMONTON DIES LAST NIGHT AT JONES HOSPITAL HERE

George Edward Simonton of the Occidental hotel, resident of Cass county for fifty-five years, passed away at 9:15 last night at the Jones hospital following a prolonged illness with complications. He had been a patient at the hospital but a few days.

He was born Nov. 30, 1869 in Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas A. Simonton, late well know Cass pioneers. He came to this county with his parents fifty-five years ago and had lived here since. His late father was a well know civil war veteran.

Surviving are one brother, James B. Simonton of Cedar Rapids, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Strutz of Atlantic. One son, Delford, had preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home. The Rev. J. E. Bruner, pastor of the First Baptist church, will officiate and interment will be in the Wiota cemetery.
