JAMES MALONE DIES IN DENVER

James Arthur Malone, 44, native of Cass county, veteran of the world war and a cousin of State Representative Charles E. Malone of Atlantic, died unexpectedly of a heart attack Monday at his home in Denver, Colo. Although Mr. Malone had been a sufferer for many years from tuberculosis and a spinal disorder, he was not believed to have been in a critical condition.

He was born on Aug. 4, 1888, near Wiota, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Malone.

When a young ma [man], he moved to Oklahoma and later went to Mitchell, S. D., where he enlisted for service in the world war. He saw service of more than a year in France. While overseas he served as private telephone operator for General John J. Pershing. He attained the rank of corporal.

At the close of the war, Malone received an honorable discharge and returned to Mitchell where he was taken ill. Prior to moving to Denver he was a patient at government hospitals at Mitchell, Minneapolis, and in Arizona. He had resided at Denver for the last four years.

He is survived by his wife, one son, James Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Mailander of Wiota and Mrs. Andrew Comma of New Kirk, Okla., and two brothers, Leo Malone of Denver and Paul Malone of Mitchell. Mrs. Mailander is a twin sister of the deceased.

Funeral arrangements have not been lompleted [completed] but the body will be brought here for burial in the Atlantic Catholic cemetery.
