Mrs. Fred Durr, 88, Dies Here This Morning

Mrs. Ida Durr, 88, wife of the late Fred J. Durr and a longtime Atlantic resident, died at 9:55 this morning at the Atlantic Memorial hospital, to which she was admitted Sunday. Mrs. Durr had been in failing health several years.

The daughter of Charles A. and Mary Evans Day, she was born in Brooks March 16, 1869 and came to Atlantic with her father when she was 18 years old. She had lived here since and was married to Mr. Durr in Atlantic May 6, 1891. Mr. Durr died in September 1943 and she had made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Malone, South Olive street, since 1947. Mrs. Durr was a member of the Atlantic First Christian church.

Surviving are a son, Ralph Durr of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Vera Berry and Mrs. Leila Leigan of Des Moines and Mrs. Florence Malone of Atlantic; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Ira Day.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Roland funeral home, the Rev. Ray Nixon officiating. Interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery.
