Obituary of George Franklin.

George Delbert Franklin was born on a farm in the Buck Creek neighborhood, January 26, 1872, and passed out of this life at this late home in this city, July 4, 1912. When two years of age he came with his parents to Atlantic, and with the exception of two years’ residence in Utah, his entire life was spent here. He was united by marriage to Lucy M. Swolley, September 20, 1898, at Omaha, Neb., and is survived by her and their two daughters, Mildred and Evelyn, ten and five years of age, who mourn the departure from this life of a devoted husband and father who watched over and cared for them with a tenderness and love that was beautiful to behold. During his fatal illness of nearly four months he was cheerful and patient, always looking on the bright side, although realizing that his life hung on a very slender thread. He took particular pleasure in outdoor sports and was in his element on the ball field as a member of the local teams and of late years a regular attendant at all games on the home grounds. Besides his own little family he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Franklin, two brothers, Harry and Wallace, and two sisters, Nellie, of this city, and Mrs. Elsie Hutton, of Des Moines. Funeral services were from the Congregational church in this city Sunday, conducted by the Masonic fraternity, assisted by Rev. Spelman, interment at the Atlantic cemetery.
