Final Rites Held For Mrs. C. Acker

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at the Roland Funeral Home for Mrs. Clayton Acker, 77. Rev. Harold Smith of Atlantic officiated. Mrs. Kenyon King was organist and played the selections, “How Great Thou Art” and “Whispering Hope.”

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bartley and Mr. and Mrs. Detlef Sorenson were in charge of the flowers.

Casket bearers were Darrell Both, Joe Joyce, Walter Lilienthal, Albert Thomas, Lee Bartelson and Roy Theede. Interment was in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Ruth Acker, daughter of Ed and Maria Jones Kimball, was born Apr. 30, 1897, and passed away suddenly at the family home in Benton township about noon Tuesday, Nov. 19. She had lived her entire life in Cass County.

On Feb. 17, 1920, she was united in marriage to Clayton Acker; the couple farmed their entire married life in the Atlantic area. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and WWI Barracks Auxiliary.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Lorraine) Rasmussen of Santa Barbara, Calif.; son, Duane of Lincoln, Nebr.; four grand children, nieces and nephews, She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
