BABY INHALES THE KEROSENE FUMES

Year and a Half Old Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lamb Dies This Morning from Inhalation of Kerosene Fumes.

One of the saddest deaths that has occurred in this vicinity was the death this morning of Winona May Lamb, the baby daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lamb, living four miles northeast of the city, from the inhalation of kerosene fumes. The child was one year, seven months and thirteen days old at the time of the death. Funeral services will be held at the house on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. Handy of the M. E. church in charge and interment will be made in the Atlantic cemetery.

The baby had taken its afternoon nap, and was playing about the house. The mother had gone upstairs to lie down for a few minutes. When she came down stairs she found the baby unconscious and found that it had sucked the gases from the spout of a five gallon kerosene can that had been kept on the porch. It lingered until 6:30 o’clock this morning when it passed away. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved parents in their affliction.

NOTE FROM CONTRIBUTOR: Winona Lamb was born September 26, 1914 and died May 5, 1916.
