OBITUARY.

Lucy Ann Johnson, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Johnson, was born Oct. 23, 1843, at Campbell Co., Va., and died at her home in Marne, Iowa, July 20, 1918, aged 74 years, 8 months and 27 days At 11 years of age she moved with her parents from Virginia to Randolph, Co., Ind., where she lived till 1868 when the family moved to Iowa, settling on a farm in Cass county, which community has been her home ever since, a period of fifty years. The past thirty years have been spent at the home in Marne, where she died. She was one of a family of ten children, of which only one sister and two brothers remain, four sisters and two brothers having preceded her. When but a young girl she dedicated her life to God, uniting with the Methodist Episcopal church, becoming a charter member of the Marne church. She was more than a church member. She was a christian woman with a rich experience and a beautiful character. No unkind word ever escaped her saintly lips that would injure the feelings or mar the happiness of another. She never had an unkind word to speak concerning any one. She was loving and lovable. During all the months of shut-in life or the weeks of her illness during the past years, no word of restlessness or complaint was ever uttered. Her life was one of truthful peace and godly contentment.
