PIONEER OF THE COUNTY DIES NEAR CORNING YESTERDAY

Resident of County Seventy Years and Son of Late Jefferson Goodale, Pioner [Pioneer], Dies at Home of Son.

Frank C. Goodale, pioneer of Cass county and son of the late Jefferson Goodale, one of the earliest settlers of the county, died at 2:00 o’clock Sunday morning at the home of his son, H. C. Goodale, ten miles northeast of Corning. He was in his eighty-third year.

Came to County in 1853.

Deceased came to Cass county on July 17th, 1853, when a lad, coming with his parents who made the trip from their home in Allen county, Ind., by covered wagon. He had lived in the county continuously for the nearly seventy years since that date. Of his brothers and sisters, his death leaves but one survivor, a sister, Mrs. H. C. Johnson, widow of the late “Clay” Johnson, who lives with O. M. Hobart and wife, on West Tenth street, at an advanced age. His wife died seventeen years ago. He is survived by seven children, of whom William Goodale, Walnut street cafe proprietor and well know local man, is the eldest. The other children are Mrs. Dora Bidleman, liivng [living} in Kansas; George Goodale of Rulo, Neb., Ira Goodale, living in Colorado; Mrs. Mabel Hertzog of Winterset; B. H. Goodale of Corning and H. C. Goodale, northeast of Corning at whose home he died.

Funeral Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock at the home of the son near Corning, and interment will be made in the Pleasant Valley cemetery four miles northeast of this city.
