MRS. A. BYRD IS CALLED

Mrs. Ruth E. Byrd, Widow of Late A. Byrd, Died at 10:15 Last Evening at Her Home, 4th and Poplar Sts.—Sixty-nine Years of Age.

Mrs. Ruth E. Byrd, widow of the late Abraham Byrd, and a long time resident and pioneer of this county, died at her home, Poplar and Fourth streets at 10:15 last night after an illness of several weeks duration with catarrhal pneumonia.

Deceased was born on the 11th of August, 1845, at Montgomery, Ind., and was married in Des Moines on the 30th of May, 1864, to the late Abraham Byrd, who died in this city on the 3rd of September, 1908. She and her husband came here shortly after their marriage and lived in the county since, leaving the farm a number of years ago and locating in town.

She is survivved (survived) by two children, five children having been born to the union of herself and husband, but three of them being deceased. The living children are J. E. or “Doc” Byrd, living at home, and who has given his mother the care and attention of a dutiful son, and Mrs. Olive Taylor, wife of J. H. F. Taylor of Washington, this state, who has been at her mother’s bedside during her illness, and whose husband has also been here for some little time. The deceased children are Georg A. Byrd, James L. Byrd and Mrs. Jennie E. Collins, the late wife of Walter Collins.

The funeral services are to be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 at the late home and the interment will be made in the Atlantic cemetery.

Friends wishing to see the remains can do so between two and four tomorrow at the home. The casket will not be opened at the funeral.
