February 25, 1941Jacob F. Acker, 74, Atlantic retired farmer and railroad worker, died this morning about 7 o’clock at the Comstock convalescent home 103 West Ninth street, following a week’s illness. He had been a patient at the home, since Friday.
Mr. Acker was born in Blair county, Pa, Sept. 9, 1866, the son of George and Elizabeth Acker, and came to Iowa in 1869 with his parents. He was married to Bell Priest of Atlantic Feb. 18, 1889, and farmed for some time in Cass county. Later he was engaged in railroad work.
Surviving are a son Guy, of St. Paul, Minn.; four brothers, Ed and Court, of Fontanelle, Charles of Chicago and C. M. Acker of Atlantic. Five brothers preceded him in death and a sister died several years ago.
Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of the son from St. Paul. The body will lie in state at the Roland, Peacock & Baxter funeral home.
