December 8, 1896Mrs. Mary W. Crouch.
Mrs. Mary W. Crouch died at her home four miles east of Marne, the morning of the 5th of December, 1896. The funeral was preached in Marne on Sabbath morning by Rev. I. H. Elliott, pastor of the M. E. church, from the text “Arise ye and depart for this is not your rest.” Macah [Micah]. ii:10 [II:10].
Mrs. Crouch was born in Campbell county, Va., Dec. 7, 1840, and was united with Geo. W. Crouch in marriage Sept. 18, 1870. She was converted at a midweek prayer meeting in her girlhood while they were singing that good old hymn, “My Faith Looks up to Thee.” She has been a Methodist Episcopal church since the time of her conversion and has lived a consistent christian life all these years. Those who visited her and were with her during her illness, always found her cheerful and happy. She remarked at different times that she was perfectly resigned to the will of her Master. She leaves a husband as well as three brothers, and five sisters to mourn her loss, but their loss is her eternal gain.
