This community is mourning the death of one of its most prominently known and best beloved citizens.

Death at 9:35 a.m. Monday, beckoned Bert L. Butler. He was 58 years old.

Mr. Butler, who through his enterprise and love for community service, became one of the best known men in southwestern Iowa, succumbed to heart disease in the Larsen hospital at Adair. During the last five years he had been ailing with the malady, and in that time had suffered several severe attacks.

While en route to Des Moines on a Rock Island passenger train last Christmas morning, to spend the double holiday with his wife and son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. For the first four days after entering the hospital, the prominent clothier remained in critical condition. He was believed well on the road to recovery when he was stricken again Monday morning.

Bert Butler was a part and parcel of this community during his entire life. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce, the farm bureau, the Masonic and Eastern Star lodges, the De Molays, the Rainbow Girls and the junior farm bureau organizations.
