Ralph Berry World War II Veteran, Dies

Ralph Anderson Berry, 71, a resident of 404 East Fourth, died at 12:10 p.m. Sunday at the Cass County Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Berry served with the Army in the European Theater of Operation during World War II and was a lifelong Atlantic area resident. The son of James Ora and Eleanor C. Hansen Berry, he was born west of Atlantic Nov. 8, 1906, and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Atlantic Elks Lodge.

Surviving are two sisters, Jessie F. Brown and Marie E. Harris, both of Atlantic; a niece, Mrs. Jack (Jarine) Highley of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two nephews, James E. Harris and James O. “J.O.” Berry, both of Atlantic; a number of great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, who died in infancy; and a brother, Delbert P. ‘Dubs” Berry.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Roland Funeral Home, with Pastor Paul Rothfusz of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in the Atlantic Cemetery.
