OBITUARY OF JACOB PAULSEN

Story of the Life of Well Known Man Who Passed Away at His Home in This City Wednesday Morning.

Jacob Paulsen was born on the 20th day of September, 1845, in Struckum, Schelswig-Holstein Germany, where he was a member of the German Evangelical Lutheran church. He has been in poor health for many years; two weeks ago he contracted a severe cold which developed into pneumonia and he died at his home in Atlantic on Feb. 21st, 1917. He was 71 years, 5 months and one day old. In the year 1877 he was united in marriage to Doris Bohnsen [Bahnsen]. To them were born nine children, eight of whom are living, one having died in infancy. Besides his wife he leaves the eight children: Mrs. Wm. Netts, Henry, Paul and John, Mrs. John Waler [Walter], Mrs. H. J. Dimig, Dorothy and Marie at home. He leaves one brother and one sister in this country and one brother and four sisters in Germany, and five grandchildren. In the spring of 1894 he, with his family, came to this country and located in Cass county, where he engaged in farming until the year 1912 when he moved to Atlantic. The funeral services were held at his home on Friday afternoon, Feb. 23rd. The pallbearers were his three sons, Henry, Paul and John, and his three sons-in-law, Wm. Netts, H. J. Dimig and John Walter. Interment was made in the Atlantic cemetery.
