Thursday, April 23, 1942B. F. MALONE, 85, DIES SUDDENLY THIS FORENOON
B. F. (Barney) Malone, 85, a resident of Cass county for 71 years, died suddenly this morning at 11:15 at his home, 1211 Chestnut street, following a heart attack. Mr. Malone had been in failing health for several years and recently underwent two major operations, but was on his way to recovery when he suffered a sudden heart attack this morning.
Mr. Malone was born Feb. 3, 1857, in New York City, the son of Thomas and Ann Malone, and located with his parents at Urbana, Ohio, when a boy. Following the end of the Civil war, the family moved to Cass county in 1871, locating on a farm in Franklin township southeast of Wiota. He resided there until moving in 1908 to a farm three miles south of Atlantic. He retired from the farm and moved to Atlantic a year ago.
He was married in Atlantic on Jan. 26, 1880, to Rebecca McGee, who succumbed Nov. 23, 1929.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Charlotte Malone, at home; three sons, Postmaster C. E. Malone of Atlantic, Sylvester (Bay) Malone of Wiota, and H. R. Malone of San Jose, Cal.; four sisters, Mrs. J. M. Shey of Wiota, Mrs. Thomas Maher of Storm Lake, Mrs. Frank Crolley of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Dan Maher of Dell Rapids, S. D.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two sisters and three brothers preceded Mr. Malone in death.
Funeral arrangements are pending word from relatives.
The body will be taken to the C. E. Malone home, 701 East Ninth street, this evening and the Rosary will be recited there at 9 o’clock.
