Both Die Very Suddenly
J. H. Ackerman of Lewis Dropped Dead in Hardware Store Sherm Rhoades Died at Lewis

The town of Lewis has received two shocks in the past twenty four hours by the sudden death of two of its citizens. Last evening about five o'clock J. H. Ackerman an old resident of the county, dropped dead in the Woodward hardware store at that place. Mr. Ackerman was feeling as well as ever when he went into the Woodward hardware store to do some trading. He had just signed a check for $90 and turned to look over a catalogue of farm machinery when he gasped for breath and fell to the floor. Medical attention was summoned at once, but before it arrived, Mr. Ackerman was dead. He was a man of about 60 years of age and a pioneer of Cass county, having been a resident of the county for about 35 years, first in Noble township and later east of Griswold, where he lived at the time of his death. He was well known
and quite prominent in the affairs of his community. Though suffering from a physical deformity, he was always bright and cheerful and made friends wherever he was known, by his honesty and upright dealings with all men.
