Bissell, Margaret Cullen -
Margaret Bissell, age 87, passed away at her home on March 30, 2003.
She was born on December 4, 1915 in Massena to Lawrence Edward and Alice (Morrison) Cullen. She was a graduate of the Cumberland High School in 1932 and then she received her teaching certificate in Atlantic. On April 8, 1939 she was united in marriage to Ivan Leroy Bissell at St. Timothy's Rectory in Cumberland, Iowa (Reno). She taught in country schools until her
marriage. She grew up and lived in the Cass County, Iowa. In 1943 they moved to the Mercer Center area in Adams County.
They moved to Corning 17 years ago.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox
and active in the Altar Society. When she moved to Corning she transferred her membership to the Corning Parish.
She is survived by one son, Denny (wife Darlene) Bissell of Forsythe. MO. and two daughters; Patty (husband Jim) Bagby of Maryville, MO, and Rita (Rick Wilcox) Bissell of Smithville, MO.
Brothers: Dick( wife Elnora) Cullen of Greenfield, and Bill (wife Mary) Cullen of Denison; sister Marie (husband Ed) Cannell of
Laughlin, NV; and sister-in-law Phyllis Cullen of Denver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ivan in 1988. brother Bob Cullen; sisters Marjorie Calkins and Berniece Anstey; and an infant grandson.
Visitation was scheduled from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2,2003; family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Christian Wake Service will be at 8 p.m at Coen-Beaty- Pearson in
Corning. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday. April 3. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Corning with Fr. Dan Siepker officiating. Burial will be at St. Timothy's
Catholic Cemetery in Cumberland, IA (Reno). Memorials may be made in her name.
