Opal A. Kramer, 72, of 1300 E. 10th St., Atlantic, passed away Monday, July 22,2002 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Kramer was born Nov. 13, 1929 at Massena, to John and Minnie Christensen Roots. She lived in Iowa all her life, moving to Atlantic in 1957 where she resided for the rest of her life. Opal married Herman J. Kramer on May 27, 1948 at St. Joseph's . Church at Wiota. He passed away Nov. 21, 1980. Mrs. Kramer was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. She was a member of the Cass County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years.
Opal is survived by a daughter, Loretta Smith and her husband Roger of Perry; son, Larry Kramer and his wife Becky of Thornton, Colo.; two granddaughters, Stephanie and Heather Kramer, both of Thornton. She was preceded in death 'by her parents, husband, and a broth­er, Gail Roots. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 25, at the Hockenberry Family Care Chapel with Father John Clarke officiating. Pallbearers for the service are Dale Rourick, Carroll Hayes, Charles Griffin, Gene Ehrman, Clayton Ellingson and Dwayne Masker. Raymond Hansen is an honorary pallbearer. A wake service is set for 6 p.m., Wednesday at Hockenberry's, followed by visitation with the family. Interment will be in the Atlantic Catholic Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Atlantic.
