“Ralph Curry Of Exira Dies

Ralph Curry, 75, former Oakfield Township farmer, died Sunday afternoon at the Exira Care Center, where he had resided since last August.

Mr. Curry was born Feb. 27, 1901, in Atlantic, the son of John Joseph and Harriet[t] Abbie Hallock Curry and was graduated from the Atlantic High School in 1921. He married Audrey May Trailer March 22, 1922, in Marne and they farmed for nine years north of Atlantic and for nine years north of Anita.

They later moved to Oakfield east of Brayton and farmed there for 33 years until moving to Exira in 1972. Mr. Curry joined Pymosa AF&AM Lodge 271 in 1929 and was a member of Exodus Lodge 342 of Exira and OES Exodus Lodge of Exira. During World War II he was a township War Bond chairman.

Surviving are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Cathryn) Christensen of Amana and Mrs. Norman (Harriet) Kirk of Exira; a son, Jack Curry of Exira; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a cousin, Mrs. Hugh (Marie) Allen of Atlantic. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Curry; and a brother, Harold Curry, who died in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday [May 4] at the Roland Funeral home here [in Atlantic], with Rev. Tom Carpe of the Exira Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in the Oakfield Cemetery east of Brayton.

The family will meet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 7:30-8:30 this evening. There will be a Masonic service at the funeral home by Exodus Lodge 342 of Exira at 8:30 this evening.” END
