John Joseph Curry

“John Curry, 85, of 809 Locust street, longtime Atlantic resident, died at 10:20 last night [May 5] at the Atlantic Memorial hospital, to which he was returned yesterday afternoon from Mercy hospital in Council Bluffs. He had been at Mercy hospital about two weeks and had been in failing health two years.

Mr. Curry was born in Oliphant, Pa., May 13, 1868, the son of Thomas W. and Ann McNamay Curry and had lived in Atlantic since coming here with his parents in 1877. He was married to Harriett Abbie Hallock on the Hallock farm at Oakfield Dec. 25, 1890. Mrs. Curry died Feb. 15, 1922. Mr. Curry was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary, with whom he made his home; a son, Ralph J. Curry of Oakfield; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a niece, Mrs. Hugh Allen, of Atlantic.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday [May 8] at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic church, Rev. J. A. Devlin of Wiota officiating. The remains will be at the Roland funeral home, where The Rosary will be recited tonight and Friday evening at 8 o’clock. Interment will be in the Atlantic cemetery.” END
