John E Taylor Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Walter Hulbush chapel in Burlington for John Edison Taylor, 64, who passed away Sunday morning in the Matthews General hospital in that city, following a stroke suffered the preceding day. Dr. A. W. Wilson of Mount Vernon, retired Presbyterian minister will officiate at the rites.
He was born August 22, 1881, in Atlantic Iowa. He had resided in this state nearly 20 years. A longshoreman by occupation, he was injured in May 1939, then taking up residence in Burlington since his marriage May 31, 1941 to Mrs. Rosa Bates. The couple has been operating a grocery store in Burlington.
Surviving are his widow, Rosa, two sons, Calvin of Everett and Kenneth of Montana; two step children, Clarence Jones of Burlington and Mrs. Bernice Giles of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Delano of Alger, Mrs. Alva Browning of Kansas City, Mo. and Mrs. Mamie Vain of Canada; seven grand children and two cousins, Mrs. Hazel Fenimore and Mrs. Ruth Combs of Mount Vernon.
