CASS COUNTY, IOWA NEWSPAPER-fEBRUARY 12, 1956.
"RALPH LANDON OF CUMBERLAND DIES."
CUMBERLAND-Ralph Landon, 62, World War 1 Veteran, died at 4:35 p.m. Sunday at Veterans Hospital in Omaha (Nebr.).He was born August 3, 1893 on a farm in Edna Township, (Cass Co., Iowa), the son of John and Susan (Eblen) Landon and spent all of his life in Cass County (Iowa). Landon was inducted into the Army July 23, 1918 at Atlantic and served as a private with Company B, 49th Infantry, receiving his discharge January 29, 1919 at Fort Levenworth, Kansas. He was married April 3, 1930 at Maryville, Missouri, to Jessie M. Sprague who died April 5, 1936. On November 15, 1939, he was married to (Frances) "Grace" Foxwell at Rockport, Missouri. He was a member of the American Legion. Surviving besides his wife are six children, Leland Landon of Atlantic, Duane Landon of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Donald, Helen, Sue, Harlan and Linda at home; four brothers, Joe and Frank Landon of Atlantic, Demas Abraham of Omaha and Charles Landon of Cumberland, and a sister, Mrs. George Starlin of Cumberland. (He was preceeded in death by a brother, Jacob "Jim" Branson Landon). Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cumberland Methodist Church with the Rev. A. Breeling officiating assisted by the Rev. Claude Calkins. Interment will be in Victoria Cemetery south of Massena with Hodges Funeral Home in charge.
