CASS COUNTY, IOWA NEWSPAPER-August 16, 1967.
"RITES SATURDAY FOR JOE LANDON,NATIVE OF CASS."
Funeral services for Joseph C. Landon, 87, who died at 12:33 Wednesday morning at the Cass County Memorial Hospital, will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Roland Funeral Home, the Rev. Robert McBlain officiating. The family will meet relatives and friends at the funeral home from 7:30 to 9 Friday evening and buriel will be in the Victoria Township Cemetery. The son of John and Susan Eblen Landon, he was born near Cumberland April 10, 1880 and was married to (Eva) Leona Wilkins in 1916. He had resided in the Cumberland and Atlantic vicinities all of his life and was a patient at the Neighbors nursing home in Griswold prior to entering the hospital Tuesday. Surviving are two sons, John Landon of Santa Rosa, Calif., and George Landon of Adair; Mrs. Vivian Sheard of Carter Lake, Mrs. (Susan)Maye Allen of Atlantic and Mrs. Elma Cummings of Lewis; two brothers, Charley Landon of Cumberland and Frank Landon of Atlantic; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Susie Landon and Mrs. George Starlin; four brothers, John, Jim (Jacob Branson Landon), Demas and Ralph Landon; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
