When a young man, he came to Missouri and from there to Iowa an Cass County about Forty-four years ago where he lived most of the time for the remainder of his life.

His wife was called from earth to her heavenly home fifteen years ago. Since that time, he has spent a few years in California and North Dakota, and had also made his home at different times with his children. He was industrious and a hard worker, choosing for his employment the kind of work that demanded hard labor and sometimes a lack of financial reward. About twenty-five years ago he united with the Christian Church of Lewis where he continued his membership until his death."
