An ideal home wedding took place at the residence of Captain Robt. Shearer, northwest of Lewis on Wednesday, at high noon. The contracting parties were Ora Elmer Fudge and Anna Cecelia Shearer. Just as the clock struck twelve, Mrs. R. S. Fudge, of Wiota, played the wedding march, the bridal party marched down stairs and took their places at the northwest corner of the north parlor. The bride was prettily dressed in white casimere [cashmere], trimmed in white ribbon, fringe and pearls and carried a large boquet [bouquet] of white roses.
The bridesmaid, Miss Erma Jones, carried a boquet [bouquet] of pink roses, while the groom and best man were dressed in the conventional black. The ceremony was performed by their pastor, Rev. D. E. Evans, in the presence of the family and near relatives. After congratulations the bridal party, the parents and the pastor and his wife were seated around a well laden table in the room east to the north parlor, while the other guests were seated at the table in the dining room. The following is a list of the names and presents presented to the newly married couple:
Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Smith, lamp and spoon receiver; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Sarsfield, of Marne, set of silver spoons; Miss Marie Bair and Harry Cavenaugh, of Atlantic, silver cream ladle; Ida Fudge, berry set and cake stand; Erain Jones, set of silver nut picks; Mr. and Mrs. Bosbyshell, of Pueblo, Colo., chocolate set and beautiful battenburg center piece; Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Fudge, one large rocker and a Jersey calf; Prof. J. B. Fudge, of Harlan, three sets of towels; Kennedy and Gardner, bed spread; Ada Sarsfield, a tidy. Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Fudge, glass water pitcher; Mr. and Mrs. W. Lawton, salad dish, creamer and sugar bowl; Frank Nash, two silver dollars; Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Fudge, of Wiota, one large rug; Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Shearer, condiment set, beautiful salad dish; Clara Fudge, of Cumberland, pin tray; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Fudge, tea set.
In the afternoon the young couple drove to Atlantic to take the train for Monroe, in Jasper county. They will also visit friends at Algona and expect to be absent for about two months, when they will return to take charge of the Hillier farm just north west of Lewis. These young people are among the leading and most enterprising young people of Cass county and have the good wishes of many friends.
