Miss Gladys Pauline Olson and Mr. Joseph Oliver Fudge Wed

Wednesday afternoon at five o’clock at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Olson, Miss Gladys Pauline Olson was married to Mr. Joseph Oliver Fudge, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Fudge. The Rev. James E. Ball of the Congregational churchc [church] read the ceremony.

Just before the ceremony Mrs. Ralph Durr sang “I Love You Truly.” Exactly at five o’clock, to the tune of Mendelssohn’s wedding march, played by Miss Margaret Schuler, the bride and groom took their places in front of a bank of ferns and palms and smilax and immense baskets of chrysanthemums.

Miss Mildred Franklin was maid of honor and Mr. Bert Warner, the best man.

After the wedding a dinner was served, during which Mrs. Ralph Durr sang “Sunshine of Your Smile.”

The bride’s gown was of yellow taffeta with pink rose buds, draped with yellow embroidered tulle and shell pearl trimming. She carried a shower bouquet of Ophelia roses and lilies of the valley. Miss Franklin wore cream taffeta, draped in blue tulle and trimmed in coral; her bouquet was of pink Ophelia roses.

Mrs. Fudge is a graduate of the Atlantic high school. She spent a year studying in Drake University and is a talented musician; she has been until recently, working at The Vogue in this city. Mr. Fudge is a world war veteran, a Company M. boy of the 168th, and was wounded in one of the first encounters in the Lorraine sector. He is now employed at the Atlantic Greenhouses.

Mr. and Mrs. Fudge left for Council Bluffs on the evening train. After a few days’ visit, they will return to Atlantic to make their home.

The groom’s gift to the bride was a gold locket which he had worn while he was in the service. The bride presented a beautiful bar pin to the maid of honor, and the groom’s gift to the best man was a gold pencil.

Before leaving for the train, the bride threw her bouquet to the girls and it was caught by Miss Lucile Dafford.

Mrs. Fudge was the recipient of many lovely presents from guests and friends.

Out of town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Pauline Dunston of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Mrs. Henry Schnake of Valley Junction; Mr. and Mrs. William Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. A. Lefgren, Mr. A. G. Olson, Miss Esther Olson, Miss Ellen Larsen and Mrs. Charles Jacobsen, all of Council Bluffs; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Durr and Mr. Roy Wright of Stuart; Dr. and Mrs. E. K. Shaw of Menlo; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Smiley of Dallas Center and Mr. and Mrs. C. P. McAfee of Anita.

A crowd of fun loving boys took the bride and groom to the movie houses and introduced them from the stage. After an auto ride over the city they took them to the train and put them aboard.
