Miss Louise Heine was born at Besalle, Hanover, Germany, Jan. 6, 1827, and died at her home in Glidden April 22, 1908, after a long seige of pneumonia, age 81 years, 3 months, and 17 days.
She came to America in 1848 and settled in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the same year sho was united in marriage to Dedrick Schulze. They lived in Cincinnati 19 years, from there they came to Guttenburg, Iowa, where they lived 17 years. In 1883 they came to Glidden, where they have since resided.
To this union 13 children were born, 6 of whom are dead. Those left to mourn the loss besides the aged husband are: William of Beatrice, Neb.; Mrs. Chas. Pruss, of Emmett, Neb.; John, of Burke, S. D.; Mrs. Joe Pruss; Mrs. Frank Prill; Miss Emma and Louis of Glidden. All were present at the funeral except John.
The deceased was a life long christian, a loving wife and mother. She was beloved by all who knew her. Those out of town who attended the funeral of Mrs. Schulze were: Miss Lulu Schulze of Kingsley, Mr. and Mrs Ed Pruss, of Omaha, Mrs. H. F. Higgins and son, Hubert, of Grant City, Will Schulze of Beatrice, Neb. Mrs Mandlekow and Miss Lizzie of Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. John Schulze, of Boone.
The funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church, conducted by Rev. Luebker of Carroll. She was laid to rest in the West Lawn cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful.
Mrs. Schulze was one of those noble old ladies of beautiful character who after a life of unselfish devotion to home and family and after enduring all the grief and trials and tribulations incident to the rearing of a large family, spent her last days in peace and quiet faith, asking nothing for self but finding keenest enjoyment in the success of her children.
