Audrey Hermsen, 79, of Ft. Mohave, Arizona and formerly of Maple River, Iowa died early Saturday morning, October 24, 2015 at the Legacy Care Center in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant was Father Timothy Johnson.

Music was by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lectors were Laura Kelly and Angie Goltl. Gift bearers were Sarah Lehotay and Cathy Dugger.

Casket bearers were Richard Flynn, Tom Flynn, Brian Watson, Kevin Brown, Derek Brown and Ben Brown.

Burial was at St. Francis Cemetery in Maple River.

Friends called at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Friday, where there was a rosary prayed at 6:30 p.m.

The casket was moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9 a.m. Saturday where visitation resumed until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on July 25, 1936 at Carroll, Audrey was the daughter of Elmer and Angela (Hauser) Snyder. She grew up in the Breda community and graduated from St. Bernard's High School. After high school, Audrey worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. Audrey later moved to Omaha, where she worked for Mutual of Omaha.

On August 21, 1958, Audrey was united in marriage to Milo Hermsen at St. Peter Catholic Church in Omaha. After their marriage the couple lived in Idaho for a short time. They then moved to Maple River for 3 years, and in 1963 they returned to Omaha. In 1986 they retired to Las Vegas, Nevada, and in 1998 they relocated to Ft. Mohave, Arizona where they currently resided.

Through the years Audrey was a devoted homemaker, she enjoyed puzzles, reading and creating, and painting ceramics. Audrey also enjoyed nickel poker, playing cards and spending time with her family, friends and neighbors.

Left to celebrate Audrey's life is her husband, Milo Hermsen of Ft. Mohave, AZ; her children:; Michael (Sylvia) Hermsen of Las Vegas, NV, Nick (Debbie) Hermsen of Omaha, Lori Guevara of Hope Mills, NC, and Jane (Kevin) Brown of Papillion, NE: eight grandchildren: Monica (Joe) Kloesel, Naomi Hermsen, Rebecca Hermsen, Tabitha (Brian) Watson, Emily Guevara, Derek Brown, Alyssa Brown and Ben Brown; and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, three sisters, and many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Frank Hermsen; three grandchildren; Erika Guevara, Matthew Hermsen and Jacob Hermsen; two sisters and one brother.
