Glidden – Mass of the Christian burial was scheduled this afternoon at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale for Joe Henry Soyer, 78, of Glidden, who died Monday morning, Dec. 29, while enroute to St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, following a brief illness.

Mr. Soyer retired this year from a farm southeast of Glidden. He had farmed for about 50 years.

The Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. James A. Bruch, with Jacqueline Blessington as lector. Mass servers will be Chris and Sean Soyer and gift bearers will be Emily and Justin Soyer.

Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery at Glidden.

Casket bearers will be nephews Vernon Brincks, Vince Irlbeck, Allen Soyer, Mike Soyer, Gene Prebeck and Rick Lang. Honorary casketbearers will be grandchildren Scott Soyer, Jonie DeVries, Jennifer Soyer, Jeffrey Soyer, Brian Blessington and Jacqueline Blessington.

Rosaries were recited at 3 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden, followed at 8 p.m. by a scriptural prayer service. Visitation was after 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Born Nov. 26, 1908, at Carroll, he was the son of Peter Soyer Sr. and Mary Brandl. He was a lifelong resident of Carroll County. He was married to Eleanor Prebeck on Nov. 23, 1937, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton by Monsignor Hausman.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic Church of Glidden and was a former member of the Moose Lodge.

Besides his wife, Eleanor, of Glidden, he is survived by his children, Norman and His wife, Jane of Glidden, Larry and his wife, Elaine, of Glidden. Judith Blessington of Largo, Fla., Mrs. Ken (Rose) Wuinlan of Des Moines, Tom and his wife, Shelley, of Glidden, Lynda Soyer and her husband, Tim Humlicek, of Chico, Calif., and Lynn and his wife, Helen, of Glidden; 11 grandchildren; and his brothers and sisters, Mrs. Ann Gute of Carroll, Peter Soyer Jr. and his wife Loreita, of Carroll, Mrs. Leonard (Marge) Brincks of Carroll, Rose Soyer of Carroll, Mrs. Ed (Emily) Schenkelberg of Carroll, Mrs. Alfred (Bertha) Broich of Willey, Mrs. A. (Josephine) Rolles of Minnesota, Albert Soyer and his wife, Theresa, of Carroll, John Soyer and his wife, Pat. Of South Dakota, and Mrs. Trudy Mendell of New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Clara Soye and Maria Irlbeck; a brother, Tony Soyer, and grandchildren, Jessie and Joey Soyer.
