Funeral for Laura Wilhelmine Margarete Rudnick was at 10:30 a.m. today, July 3, 2000, at St. John Lutheran Church in Audubon. Mrs. Rudnick, 101, died Friday, June 30, at the Friendship Home in Audubon. Pastor Bradley Ketcham presided at the services. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery in Manning. Casket bearers were Herbert Bruhn, Lyle David, John Paul Deist, Roland Huebner, Brian Lage, Kenneth Starck and Richard Starck. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of arrangements.

Born May 8, 1899, in her parents home in Manilla, she was a daughter of John and Emma (Wenzel) Schade. She was baptized at the Manilla Lutheran Church on June 11, 1899 and confirmed on March 28, 1915, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She attended country schools in Lincoln Township, Audubon County. After school she helped at home and worked as a hired girl at neighborhood farms. She married Fred H. Rudnick on Jan. 7, 1925, in Audubon. After their marriage they lived on two different farms in Audubon County. In 1959 they retired and moved to Carroll and later moved to Audubon. Mr. Rudnick died March 15, 1976. After his death Mrs. Rudnick lived in an apartment in Audubon until she moved into Friendship Home in 1983. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church northwest of Audubon and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll and most recently of St. John Lutheran Church in Audubon. She enjoyed sewing, decorating cakes, music, gardening and cooking. She sang in the choirs at Trinity and St. John Lutheran churches.

Mrs. Rudnick is surviving by a sister, Viola Reuwsaat, of Denison; a sisters-in-law, Donna Schade, of Audubon; and two brothers-in-law, Clarence David of Audubon and Herbert Ullerich of Manning. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; three brothers, John, in infancy, and Raymond and Merle Schade; three sisters, Beata David, Leona Starck and Wilma Ullerich; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Herman and Pauline Dammann, Edwin and Louise Rudnick and Robert Rudnick.
