Manning- Funeral service for Ella Florence Reimers of Manning was held Saturday, Jan 8, 2000, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Mrs Reimers, 97, died Thursday, Jan 6, 2000, at Manning Regional Healthcare Center. Pastore Daniel Vogel officiated the service. Casket bearers were Roger Vollstedt, Lyle Borkowski, Lenus Borkowski, and Larry Mahnke. Honorary casket bearers were Merle Stoelk and Irwin Stoelk. Burial was in Manning Cemetery. Visitation preceded the funeral service. Ohde Funeral Home of Manning was in charge of arrangements.

Born Dec. 23, 1902, on a farm near Aspinwall in Crawford County, she was a daughter of Henry and Dora (Stuhr) Stoelk. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith and attended school in Shelby County. She moved with her parents to Manning, worked at the dental office of Dr. V. R. Anderson for five years then attended beauty school in Omaha, Neb. After graduating she opened a beauty shop in Manning and operated it for 26 years. She and Gerald Reimers were married Dec. 18, 1928 at the little brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. After her husband died in 1934, Mrs. Reimers continued working at her beauty shop until closing the business in 1954 to join her daughter, Geraldine, in California. Mrs. Reimers worked at Dr. Scholl's Foot Comfort Shop in Long Beach, Cailf., for 15 years. She also worked at Kears Gift Ship in Long Beach for two years. Mrs. Reimers also took craft classes and reupholstered furniture. She moved back to Manning in 1974 and resided at Terrace Apartments. She moved to Manning Plaza in October 1997 and was hospitalized three days before her death. Survivors include her daughter, Geraldine Gernhardt and her husband, Norman, of Eugene, Ore.; two grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Reimers was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and six brothers: William, Frank,Charlie, Harry, Albert and Lawren Stork.
