Manning – Robert Campbell, 85, formerly of Botna, who resided at the Manning Plaza for the past two years, died at the Manning General Hospital Saturday night.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Manning with Rev. Joel Wright officiating. Interment will be in the Carroll City cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 2 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Manning.

Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. A Masonic memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Campbell, son of Alexander and Emma Rorabaugh, was born on Feb. 17, 1891, near Botna.

He attended rural schools near his home and graduated from Mnning High School in 1909. During World War I, he served in the U.S. Navy.

His marriage to Odessa Alspach took place on Feb. 25, 1920. They farmed near Botna and moved to Manning in March, 1959. His wife, Odessa, died on Feb. 16, 1976. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and held every office in the church including Slated Clerk of the Session from 1957 to 1966; a 32nd Degree Mason; member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Manning; in 1973 became a 50-year member of Manual Lodge No. 450 of Manning; member of Scottish Rites Bodies of Sioux City; past member of the Manning Rotary Club; member of the American Legion Post No. 22 of Manning and served as commander of that post in 1942. He was a pioneer in soil Conservation work. He served as secretary of the Jefferson Township School Board for many years. He was a charter member of Housing Authority of Manning and a member of the Urban Renewal Board. For many years, he was a member of the board of directors of the Community Hospital Association of Manning and was instrumental in the building of the Manning Plaza.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Vest of Henrietta, Okla., and Alice Campbell of Mason City and nieces and nephews.
