Mass of the Christian burial for Dorothy M. Schultz was held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan 10, 1994, at Sacred Heart Church in Manning. Father Ralph Reinhart officiated the services. Mrs. Schultz died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 7, at home in Manning. Casket bearers were Merlyn Irlbeck, Ervin Bauer, Ted Morris, Larry Hinners. John Heinike and Orland Fara. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning handled arrangements.

Born Feb. 7, 1925, in Dakota City, Neb., she was a daughter of Henry and Agnes Marie (Lee) Lowry. She grew up in the Sioux City area, and graduated from Scared Heart High School in Sioux City. On Aug. 12, 1944, she married Carl Schultz at St, Michael's Church in South Sioux City, Neb. They lived several places in Nebraska and South Dakota before moving to Manning in 1966. Mrs. Schultz was a homemaker most of her life, and she also received training as an activities coordinator and took Emergence Medical training. She worked at the Manning Plaza Nursing Home and served on the Manning EMT team for many years. In 1986, she retired from her work at the Plaza and operated a day care in her daughter's home in Omaha, Neb. for five years. In 1993, Mrs. Schultz started working part-time for the congregate meal program in Manning. Mrs. Schultz was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning, where she was a lector an was serving as financial secretary for the Catholic Daughters of America. She was also active in the CCD religion program. Survivors include eight sons, Byron Schultz and his wife, Jean, of Grimes, Iowa, Kevin Schultz of Carroll, David Schultz and his wife, Karen, of Thornton, Colo., Greg
