MANNING - Perter Kuhl, 83, of Manning, a retired orchestra manager, died early Sunday, Jan. 27, at Manning General Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ohde Funeral Home here, with burial in the Manning Cemetery. The Rev. Joel Wright will officiate. Members of American Legion Post No. 22 and V.F.W. Post No. 3517 will act as pallbearers and accord military honors. Friends may call at Ohde's after 5 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Kuhl organized his first orchestra in 1921 and managed orchestras until about ten years ago. He was well-known in this area for "Pete Kuhl and His Seven Aces."

He was born near Manning May 28, 1890, a son of Peter and Louisa Lohmeier Kuhl. He attended school at Manning and was a printer's apprentice here. After serving in World War I he returned and worked in a printing shop here. On April 20, 1925, he married Nola Schwaller at Manning; she died May 3, 1965. Mr. Kuhl suffered a stroke five years ago and for the last three years resided at the Manning Plaza nursing home.

He was a member of American Legion Post No. 22 and a past member of the Manning Fire Department.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cy (Lucille) Long of Albuquerque, N.M.; ten grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn of Manning.

Mr. Kuhl was preceded in death by a grandson, three brothers and a sister, in addition to his wife.
