Manning - Mary Katherine Wanninger, 82, died Tuesday, January 7, at Friendship Nursing Home in Audubon where she had been a resident for about two years.

Rite of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Manning with the Rev. Monsignor Dean Walker as celebrant. The Sacred Heart choir will sing. Burial, under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning, will be in the parish cemetery. Active casketbearers will be Raymond Heim, Delbert Farrell, Wayne Cashatt, Joe Anthofer, Junior Skalla and Lawrence Wurr. Honorary bearers named are Dale Reeck, Jim Showman, Rick Kaplan, John Wanninger, Kent Misselhorn, Keith Misselhorn, Marty Wanninger, Mike WAnninger and Joe Wanninger.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at the Manning funeral home.

Mrs. Wanniger is survived by the following children: Bernard Wanninger and his wife Gladys, Florissant, Colo., Rita Misselhorn, Manning; Mrs. John (Evelyn) Irwin, Miami, Fla., and Lee Wanninger and his wife Jan, Manning; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Frank Skalla and his wife Laura, Carroll, and Joseph Skalla and his wife Elsie, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters: Mrs. Anne Busche, Carroll, and Mrs. George (Alice) Anthofer, Coon Rapids; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Joseph in 1939, a grandson, a son-in-law Amos Misselhorn; two sisters, Elizabeth Heim and Frances Wurr, and a brother, John Skalla.

Mrs. Wannigner was born near Lanesboro on February 17, 1903, a daughter of Joseph Skalla Jr. and Mary Magdalene Gute. She lived with her family on farms near Lanesboro and Auburn and later moved to Willey.

On June 22, 1922, she was married to Wolfgang Wanninger at Willey. They farmed in the Gray, Templeton and Manning areas. In 1958, they moved into Manning. Her husband died in 1971. She remained in her home until December of 1979 when she moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. Two years later she moved to the Audubon nursing home.
