I translated the following obituary from Der Carroll Demokrat, a German-language newspaper published in Carroll, Iowa, between about 1874 and 1920. It was originally published on Friday, 21 October 1892. Any information in brackets or notes at the end are my own explanations. It reads as follows:

[Mrs. Margaretta Ankebauer/Ankenbauer]

In the night between Saturday and Sunday, Mrs. Marg. Ankebauer [possibly should be spelled Ankenbauer] died at the home of her daughter in Carroll, as a result of dropsy. The deceased, a good, honest, and Christian woman, had suffered from this illness for about one year, but she bore her suffering with Christian patience until she was released by death. She was born in the vicinity of Würzburg, Germany and had reached the age of 63 [or possibly 68] years. The earthly remains were buried from the Saints Peter and Paul Church, with Rev. Father Nacke officiating. The deceased leaves behind three sons and a daughter. Two sons live in Eden Township, and a daughter, Mrs. Fr. H. Wichmer, lives here in Carroll. May she rest in peace.
