DARROLD EDWARD CARPENTER
Darrold Edward Carpenter was born February 28, 1933 in rural Carroll County, IA, the son of Russell Carpenter and Jessie Pengrie. He attended rural school and later graduated from the Coon Rapids High School. Following high school, Darrold joined the United States Army, serving in the signal corps during the Korean War. After his discharge from the service, Darrold attended college at Fort Dodge. On November 2, 1956, Darrold was united in married to Jennie Mae Turner, in Dedham, Iowa. To this blessed union two children were born, Barry Carpenter and Ed Carpenter.
Darrold worked many different jobs over the years. He worked as an electrician, mechanic and also for the telephone company. Darrold was also an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing when time allowed and going hunting. He also spent time woodworking, always being very handy and able to fix just about anything that needed fixing. Darrold spent many, many hours working in his shop carving walking sticks and always enjoying working outdoors. He also enjoyed being around people and was always willing to help his fellow neighbor.
Left to cherish Darrold's memory are his two children, Barry Carpenter and wife, Jean of Corning; Ed Carpenter of Corning; four step-grandchildren, Genny Miller, Ann Miller, and Michael Grabau of Johnston, IA, and Leslie Grabau of Des Moines, Iowa; one step great-grandchild, Lyndsey Chumbly of Johnston, Iowa; sister, Madeline Heckman and husband, Dean of Muscatine, Iowa; brother, Duane Carpenter and wife, Bethel of Coon Rapids; along with many other family members and friends.
Preceding Darrold in death are his parents, Russell and Jessie Carpenter; his loving wife, Jennie; and two brothers, Donnie and Dave Carpenter.
May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn Darrold's passing.
