MRS. NETTIE ARMENTROUT

MANNING – Funeral services for Mrs. Nettie Armentrout, 79, former area resident, were held on Monday, Feb. 17, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Harlan. The body was at the Obde Funeral Home in Manning until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, when it was taken to the church to lie in state.

Officiating at the service were Rev. Allen K. Williams of the United Methodist Church at Harlan and Rev. John C. Pocath of the United Methodist Church in Indianola. Burial was in the Harlan Cemetery.

Daughter of James W. and Margaret McGinnis Mockler, she was born May 26, 1889 in Botna. She graduated from Manning High School, and attended the State College at Brookings, S. D. She was married to Marion Armentrout at Harlan on March 17, 1915.

They had one son, Russell who died in the Pacific theater of operations during World War II.

The couple lived in Botna and Irwin Areas until moving to Harlan in 1939. Mrs. Armentrout died on Friday evening Feb. 14, following a long illness.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. William Larsen of Hayward, California; a grandson, Randall Armentrout and his wife of Harlan; and a great-granddaughter, Julie Ann; also three brothers W. F. Mockler, Racine, Wis.; Rev. M. M. Mockler, Vancouver, Washington; James Mockler, Pinole, California; and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Rice, Harlan.
